An excellent talk by Steve Keen on how our credit-money system works–or doesn’t.
I am perpetually hearing from adherents of various theories, economic and political as well as religious, that “you’re stupid because Mises (Hayek, Jesus, Mahesh Yogi) says that (this or that) has to be happening!” whether it actually is or not. Reality be damned.
Theorizing these days seems to have replaced thinking and observation. Real scientists don’t theorize until they have enough data to make a reasonable guess, and are completely willing to toss theory out the window in the face of evidence. Evidence *comes first* people.
But let Neil Tyson explain why:
The universities are cutting their own throats by gouging their students. There’s a revolution in progress that will make them obsolete. From the Khan Academy’s website:

It’s a great way to repair the damage a lousy school system inflicted as well. Start as far back in a subject as you feel on solid ground with and fill in the blanks.
The videos I’ve viewed so far are world-class instruction, with comfortably humorous instructors.

Theory that contradicts observation needs to be examined more closely for a few holes, and some theories have such huge holes the bankers jump through them, cackling with glee.
